Collin County is seeking an experienced and dedicated leader to serve as County Administrator, an executive-level role providing leadership across the organization to achieve the County’s operational objectives and long-term goals.

The County Administrator reports to the Commissioners’ Court and provides 11 departments with coordinated and strategic direction in alignment with Commissioners Court’s goals and priorities. In the scope of this work, duties include;
• Executes the policies, resolutions and orders established by Commissioners Court or mandated by the State of Texas.
• Monitors legislative developments and facilitates the County’s legislative package.
• Heavy involvement in long-range planning, economic development, real estate management, and capital improvements.
• Collaboration with elected officials, appointed officials, managers and employees to identify meaningful cross-functional solutions.
• Ensures the proper administration of all affairs of the County under Commissioners Court authority.
• Facilitating annual budget meetings.
• Serving as a key representative of the County across a variety of settings and organizational interactions.
• Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of the business as assigned or required.

The ideal candidate will have a high level of interpersonal skills and the ability to foster positive working relationships by brokering conversations and mutual understanding between stakeholders. This role requires the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. A strong knowledge of financial and economic concepts, government operations, and organizational management is also required. Effective delegation of tasks and acting on input from subject matter experts is essential. Regular presentations to Commissioners Court in front of the public and other departments is required – candidates should be comfortable presenting information to executive-level leadership and speaking as needed on their areas of responsibility as discussions arise.

Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years’ management experience leading diverse teams, including at least 7 years of service at a federal, state or local government agency. A Master’s of Public Administration or Master’s of Business Administration degree is strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree required.
